Benitses Village - the place to be in Corfu!
Between the mountains and the sea Benitses, or Benitsa as locals call it, are a truely picturesque village located near (approx. 12km) the island's capital, Corfu town. Over the years Benitses developped from a traditional fishing village to a contemporary tourist resort with great infrastructure without spoiling its beauty and authenticity. The latter is the reason why many tourists choose Benitses for their holidays each year.
The sandy beach of Benitses is widely known for its crystal clean waters. It has also been awarded with a "Blue Flag" by the European Union which suggests that the beach of Benitses has achieved the highest quality in water, facilities, safety, environmental education and management.
Addiotionally, in Benitses besides the wonderful beach, the visitors have endless choices for activities for leisure, sightseeing and entertainment. At the center of the village you can find numerous restaurants and taverns with several cuisines where you can choose depending on your preference. Moreover you can enjoy your drinks in one of the sea-front bars. Those interested in the ancient monuments can visit the sources for the ancient Aqueduct, the imposing Achillion (the palace of Queen Sissy and King Kaiser) and Kaiser's bridge, the Roman baths with their mosaic floors, the small church of Aghia Paraskevi (with the magnificent sea view). Daily cruises to Ithaki and Paxous Islands are also available.
The village has easy access from Corfu town and other places of the island. You can choose to use the public transportation (blue busses), hire a taxi or rent a car, scooter or ATV. There is also a small port for small yachts and boats.
Cruises to Paxous Island, Sivota, Parga and Albania depart daily from the Benitses port.
